Introduction to Angela's Rose Cottage
Angela’s Rose Cottage is situated in the Gariep Dam, approximately half way between Cape Town and Johannesburg. This is an ideal place to break your journey and enjoy the most beautiful surroundings as well as the crisp clean air of the Great Karoo. The Cottages are ideal for the weary guest looking to break their journey - or those wanting to break away from the city rush and spend some time enjoying the activities that the area has to offer.
ACCOMMODATION:
Angela’s Rose Cottage is divided into 9 self-standing units/ houses: Hammerkop, Rooibekkie & swallow is situated on one premises (forming a complex), Suikerbekkie and Mossie are on one premises, so is Fish Eagle and Seagull. Blue Crane is completely on its own. All these structures are relatively close to each other. In the complex you will find a small plunge pool and a stunning braai area – perfect for those summer evenings. All units in the complex have got a small lapa outside for your comfort. There is no dam view from any of these cottages.
Hammerkop:
Fully equipped two bedroom home with kitchen, small dining area and lounge. The lounge leads out onto a long undercover old fashioned “stoep” that has a full view of the lush garden, lapa, pool and braai area. TV with SABC channels, HiFi, CD,DVD and VCR library. Two double sleeper couches in the double sized living room, privacy is possible with draw back curtains around these couches.
Rooibekkie:
Spacious bachelor unit. The room is furnished with two single beds that form a double bed. En-suite bathroom and toilet. Kitchenette with tea/coffee facilities and bar fridge, microwave etc. The unit opens up onto two-seater lapa and cozy private braai area. Great value for money.
Swallow:
Swallow is a self-standing garden flat which can sleep up to four guests. It has an open plan lounge and kitchenette that includes a sleeping area with two new “Simonz” beds. The main bedroom has got an en-suite toilet and shower. Private garden with a four-seater “lapa’ and braai area. Guests have access to communal pool and bird feeding area.
Blue Crane
The lovely Blue Crane Unit is a comfortable-sized, family-styled house; consisting of three bedrooms, two bathrooms and can sleep up to six guests. All bedrooms are furnished with factory-direct beds, finest in quality and first in comfort.
The rest of the house includes two lounges, one being a smaller family-styled lounge, and the other a huge entertainment-styled area with indoor braai and adjoining kitchen.
5minutes’ drive from the dam, and only 1km from the main Rose Cottage complex. No swimming pool on the premises, but guests may use swimming pool at Rose Cottage complex. Lovely luscious garden.
Suikerbekkie
Suikerbekkie is situated from the Main Angela’s Rose Cottage Complex. Surrounded by fruit trees and grapevines, this is a perfect hide-away. Self contained house consisting of 3 rooms, single bath/shower and separate toilet. Separate kitchen combined dining area and separate lounge. Paintings by John Burton.
Mossie:
Mossie is a bachelor unit situated on the same premises as Suikerbekkie.
It is perfect for two adults. The cozy unit consists of two single beds, a shower, and coffee/tea facilities, kettle, counter-top stove, microwave and bar-fridge.
The unit also features a flat screen TV and a quaint two-seater lapa outside. Mossie has got its own entrance which ensures complete privacy.
Fish Eagle
Fish Eagle is a lovely free-standing home that can accommodate up to six adults. It consists of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen for self-catering accommodation. The unit has got a fridge, stove
Seagull
Seagull is a spacious garden flat, situated on the same premises as Fish Eagle, but with own entrance which ensures complete privacy.
The unit consists of a main bedroom, bathroom and separate lounge. Fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge with flat screen TV.
Lovely unit for a romantic get-away, or to escape from the city rush. A holiday in Seagull will ensure that you will return to your destination refreshed and rejuvenated.
Oviston (Fishing accommodation)
Charming 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house on the Eastern banks of the Gariep Dam (56 km from the village itself). The house can sleep up to 7 Adults. The accommodation features a cottage-styled kitchen, lounge and charming old fashioned stoep leading onto a plunge pool for those extra hot Karoo days. Outside braai facilities and lovely view from the pool. A holiday at Oviston is any fisherman’s dream, with all the fishing spots being a mere 1 to 1.5 km away. The peace and quiet of this little town will capture your heart and you will experience nature in its purest form.
